A day at the Zoo

Photobucket

A flying monkey - oops, I mean Nathan.

Grandma Wendy showing Jasmine how to feed the little goats.

Now Adrian wants to feed the goats.

Not sure I'd want to meet him in the jungle. He's so big!!

Definitely would not want to meet up with an elephant. I'm glad they were surrounded by a strong enclosure.
It was hot that day, but we had fun.

Oh, what fun! I can hardly wait to go with Ella to the zoo. We have a nice zoo which is just a good kid size in Tampa. Hopefully when they come in January, we'll get there.

Glad you had such a lovely time at the zoo.
I recently went to a zoo with my grandsons on the East coast and had a great time.
Today I intend to take my granddaughters to the zoo here in the West. Great days out. Lovely to see things through the children's eyes!

Okay-who had more fun at the zoo? You or the kids? :) Isn't it a treat to get to see them interact with animals. The joy and wonder on their faces makes the f=effort to get to the zoo all worth it.

Gosh, those kids are growing! Your babies aren't babies anymore. So sweet and cute!

Which zoo were you at? I went to Granby Zoo many years ago, I think that's near you?
I'm looking forward to taking my grandboys to the zoo here in Toronto.... Callum is old enough but Isaac's too little yet.

Hi Wendy....children always associate well with animals and it makes for a good day out......I love the photograph of you and Jasmine......

I went on safari once and met giraffe and elephants.....they are not as scary as you think.......at least I did not think so.....

Doing anything with the grand kids is fun when they enjoy it! We took one of our grandsons to Science North yesterday and we all had fun!!

Love Zoo trips! We are close to the Detroit Zoo. When my boys were younger I had a year pass and would take them there once a week!

It looks like you had a wonderful time at the zoo!

Thank you everyone. I appreciate all your kind comments, and hope those of you taking grandchildren to the zoo will have as much fun as we did. I'm sure you will.

It was Granby Zoo, about 1 1/2 hours from here. I hadn't been there since my own children were kids.

Dear Wendy,
Time spent with the Grandchildren would be the best.
Zoos are hard for me. I have mixed feelings. I never am afraid just sad the animals are held captive....the little goats are so cute.

Hi Wendy.
Your photos are precious.
That must have been so fun. I love the giraffe. When my kids were little we had one lick us for grass. Even the elephant could be friendly. I too just wish they were free. But I understand they may live longer in the zoo. So I feel blessed when I am able to see one in person.
I have always wanted to go on a drive through safari. Maybe I will put it on a new bucket list.
Be blessed my friend. big hug.

Found you at Megan's blog. My goddaughter absolutely adores giraffes. Nothing quite like reconnecting with nature. Ever sense what it would feel like to set all the animals in the zoo free (back to the wild)?

I thought it was Granby Zoo. I last went there during the Montreal Olympics.... 1976! We were staying neat Sutton for the Equestrian Olympic events. My best memory is seeing Michel Vaillancourt and Branch County win silver for show jumping. But that has nothing to do with the zoo does it???

Hi Wendy, that must've been such fun! All your grandchildren look so adorable! And to think Nathan is 'big' enough to visit zoos:) Time flies!

I also hate to see animals captured. But I did not feel this as strongly this visit. Last time I was at a zoo, the animals were all caged. That was horrible! This time, they animals were enclosed with grass and water and rocks and more open space; so have an modicum of freedom. No, not quite the same, but better. More room to roam. No bars or top enclosure.

I really hate to see dolphins swimming in a tank. Would love to set them free in the ocean. Really. If I knew how - I'd just do it!

Hi Cheryl, I think I just feel the magnificence of the animal. The strength and size intimidate me. And probably that on their home turf, I would be the intruder. Then what would they do??
