My New Camera

I splurged and bought myself a new camera!

Fascinated with raindrops on flowers, leaves, and even spider webs (although the spider web pics did not turn out - more practice needed), I wanted to capture the magic that only fresh, early morning rain can bring to soften flowers and green foliage.

Other bloggers have posted such gorgeous macro pics, I wanted a camera with better macro capabilities too.

This is such a delicate and tiny flower. I have no idea what it is, except it must be a weed as it's growing in one of my pansy pots. I want to learn how to bring the flower into detailed focus and not the leaves so much.
Looks like we're in a rainforest...

Mother Nature adding softness to pink rose impatiens. My camera picks up more detail in the leaves rather than the flowers. I wonder if I can change that.

I also would like to learn how to capture sunlight. Something that is probably impossible to do, but still. The early morning sun shining through my hummingbird feeder made it look positively jewel-like. However, the pic did not capture this at all. It just looks yellow.
Poor little wasp. Trapped inside.

Hi Wendy....lovely photographs, raindrops on blooms are beautiful.... a new camera can make a huge difference. There is a setting on my camera that blurs the background. I am still learning....but my camera still controls me, instead of me controlling it.

I agree poor wasp.....

Congrats on getting ourself a new camera. Your photos look superb! That hib is gorgeous! So are the other blooms/foliage. I know it's rather difficult to capture miniature blooms. Even the weed looks lovely! Here's to many more stunning photos!

I imagine that wasp is long dead by now but if I see one in my hummingbird feeders I always empty it immediately!!

Very lovely pictures, you'll be able to take some good snow pics!! Apparently the Farmers Almanac says we are in for a frigid winter!!!

I hope they're wrong!

Wendy, how fun to have a new camera to play with! Looks like you are doing well with it. The more more you take pictures, the more you will know how to use it.

Just have fun!

Hi Wendy, your new camera took some great shots. I too, just got a new camera but haven't posted any of those shots yet. I'm still learning:~)

Beautiful pictures!! I do love the macro setting on my camera. Spider webs need just the right light and a bit of moisture to turn out. They are very challenging to get in good focus, but I am sure you will succeed eventually.

Great picture but I didn't recall reading the type of camera you bought.
I bought an Olympus and enjoy it very much but there so much for me still to learn about the camera.

Coffee is on.

Beautiful photos, Wendy! A better camera makes so much of a difference; the more I see of others' photos, the more I want a better camera, too...sigh. I'm sure the more you practice with it and its different settings, you will learn how to capture the images you want. Enjoy!

Hi Wendy, Congratulations. I LOVE THE PHOTOS. what KIND OF CAMERA did you get? It will be a learning process. I am still learning. It starts out pont and shoot the ne lenses. Than maybe read the instruction manual. I have not done that one as yet either. Lol. Maybe some day.
I know you will have so much fun. Shoot away.
I can't wait to see all your new photos.
Yea! Have a great day.

Lucky you, with a new camera in your hand. So we can expect some prize-winning photographs in the future, I hope? I still manage with my little 5 yr old digital point'n'shoot, but it seems to fulfill my photographic needs at the moment.

Hi Maggie May - thank you. I just need some practice, but it's fun!

Hi Cheryl, Yes, I know, poor little creature. Thanks for the tips. There is so much to learn. I think I recall reading about a setting on my camera too - about blurring the background. Will check it out.

Hi Betsy, aren't we lucky to be living in the age of digital? I did take oodles of pics the first few days.

Hi Kanak, you are so kind. I wonder if you noticed that the little weed looks very much like a pic you posted the other day. I wonder.....

Hi Amelia, yes, I did empty the feeder pretty quickly. Oh, I do hope they are wrong about the winter. I was hoping we'd have a nice warm (relatively) winter to make up for all that rain this summer. Ah well...

Hi Beckie, thanks for your encouragement. I will have fun! I also get a free camera lesson at the shop where I purchased it. I need to make time to go for this lesson. Right now, I'm a little frustrated at the software program that goes with this camera. It seems my pics are uploaded to the My Pictures and also the Image Mixer (old camera) and the new software library. I certainly don't need 3 sets of pics! Will have to figure that one out!

Hi Vickie - welcome aboard. This ship sails through rough waters and calm seas - depends on the season and my moods. LOL! Thanks for visiting. Maybe we could share camera tips?

Hi Ruth, thanks for the tips also. You're right about the moisture and I guess that's why the cobwebs I took earlier in the summer were so much easier. They were misty with early morning moisture. Now they seem "dryer" and not so easy to photograph. Yes, I will catch on.

Hi Dora, I bought a Sony Cybershot DSC-H20 (sounds like an underwater camera. LOL!) Have fun with your Olympus.

Hi Rose, I also was drooling over others' blog pics, and now I am happy to have upgraded a bit. I know that somewhere down the road, I'll want an even better camera, but let's just do things one step at the time. Glad you're back from your vacation.

Hi Grammy - love your enthusiasm! I got a Sony Cybershot DSC-H20. Sometimes it is easier to just take some pics and then read the instructions. Happy pic-taking!

Hi Shammickite, well, I don't think you'll see any prize-winning pics, but at least I'll have fun.
