Contrasts...

Empty... Full...

Half and half.

Dead...

Alive...
Pardon?

ALIVE!
(oh, sorry, I didn't hear you - ha, ha)

Half and half.

I couldn't think of anything to say about this last pic. I just liked the "aerial view", and the contrast of the pretty petunia still alive and happy amongst the dead autumn leaves.

As you can see, I love taking her picture.
Happy November!

Lovely pic of granddaughter and I love the way you've captured the winding down of summer and the way Autumn is overtaking everything..... leaves and the brave flowers peeping out.

We still have some phlox which still have flowers yet we have had snow and some hard frosts. Amazing how resilient they are!

How is your hubby? I know you changed your blog to be more upbeat and I hope you don't mind me asking.

Wendy, this is a perfect way to describe this time of year. Even though we've had several frosty nights, I am surprised to find a few plants still blooming. And amongst the bare-branched trees there are still some with lots of color. Gotta give those petunias credit--they don't give up easily!

Did I mention before how much I like your header photo? She's such a cutie and sure looks like she's enjoying Halloween.

Hi Wendy, Love your header... That little butterfly is gorgeous!!!!

Yes--this is the time of year when things do start to die. Our trees are mostly 'bare' now ---or if there are leaves left on them, they are brown and dead!!!!

Love your 'contrasting' pictures.
Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Wendy....the petunia is such a deep colour, I can see why you love to photograph her. Our trees are in varying states of autumn wear...
A fun post......

Cheerful and pretty header......

I love the new header, Wendy. She is just as cute as a bug--Lady Bug, that is!

Fall is a time of change, isn't it? Just like your blog name, there are lots of change going on in the garden. I think it is always fun to see what enjoys the cooler temps. and the things that actually thrive on cold weather...and then, of course, those that take their winter siesta. The contrast between the petunias green and happy in the brown leaves is very nice.

Those pines are just gorgeous! I love the contrast theme... So perfect for fall. This time of year really makes me nostalgic in a way no other season does.

I was out walking yesterday in our gorgeous 70-degree weather, along a path I used to traverse as a small child. The smell of the dry, warm leaves on the ground took me right back to when I was 7 years old. I was that little kid again... And I was so light and happy!
Keep your gorgeous pictures coming, please!

Such beautiful photos. When I see pictures like this, I am anxious for the 5 years to retirement to pass so I can go back to the country.

With the passage of time, our definitions of the things we see and interact with change. Therefore, if we can continually lighten our perceptions, the world transforms into a less strict way of living. Freedom and Spaciousness open up. Lines can become blurred and new and higher viewpoints visited.

I love the way flowers hang around until the last possible moment...if flowers are the earth laughing, then these are her giggles before going to sleep in winter.
