Going "Green"...

Pulled into the self-serve gas station.
Put my credit card into the appropriate slot on the gas pump.
Pushed all the appropriate buttons (do I want a receipt? Yes).
Withdrew my card.
Unscrewed my gas cap.
Now to select a grade of gas.

Oh cool - a gas nozzle with a green handle. I'll pick that one. Maybe gas stations have decided to "go green". Now how would that work??

Tried to fit the green-handled nozzle into the gas tank opening in my car.
It did not fit.
What's wrong with this thing? Have they switched gas pump specifications or something??

Looked more closely at the "green-handled" pump and realized it said DIESEL in big letters!
Oops - no wonder the nozzle wouldn't fit in my car. It's a safety measure for people like me who don't bother to read what's on the pumps, but go for the pretty colours - in this case - Green!

Good thing too, as I'd have filled my tank with diesel gas!!

p.s. - still having computer problems and still trying to find my blogroll.

Wendy, it wouldn't have destroyed your car....but OH what a mess...your engine would NOT have liked it....and I'm glad they make the diesel pump handles green...and oversized...aren't you?
What a cute blog title...and refreshing to see a beautiful flower...brightened my cold evening and night.
I hope that all computer problems are fixed ASAP....

I am so glad I am not the only absent minded gas pumper out there. LOL.
I loved your flower, is that a primrose? I can tell winter is beginning to wear. The need for flowers and sunshine is weighing in.
: ) me too.
Glad you avoided the diesel.

I am so glad it did not fit. I love the flower photo. We have snow and it is still snowing. We can not make snow angels as both the kids have influenza a .So I do not was to be on the list with them as in sick. I started and art site at ning called healing art. Where We can share photos and learn from each other. http://healingart.ning.com/ I did one video so far. to show how to do collage with the paint program in your computer. You may just want to get a new computer. The lap top is so much faster and Has more safety measures in it. It is vista. But I heard the newest release with window's 7 is much better. I have also started writing a on line book of my life. I did the intro and just put up chapter 1. It is awesome to be free of the past to be able to write it down and let it go with out pain.

Beautiful flower on a cold and wintry day! Yes, winter has come to Texas--Brrrrrrrrr! I am glad to hear that you are okay, and hope you get the puter problems straightened out--good thing you didn't try to put diesel in that!

lol! I did that once and a man at the next pump pointed out my error. He was likely thinking "that dumb woman!"

Hi Wendy, It's been a while since I have visited your blog. So nice to come back and see your beautiful flower pictures. Hope all is well with you, your husband and the rest of your family.

Good thing the nozzle didn't fit! I remember years ago when some cars still took leaded gas, and you had to be careful not to get that instead. My husband always warned me it would destroy my engine if I put it in my new car, so I always worried I would absent-mindedly put in the wrong kind. Now all I worry about is accidentally putting in the most expensive kind:)

Hope you can get your computer problems straightened out soon; that's so frustrating.

Nice that the "safety" measure worked! I have to pay attention whenever I am out in the world. I get so used to the birds and being home in the winter I forget how humans do!
Hope you are staying warm.
Happy New Year,
Namaste,
Sherry

I know how drawn we are towards green!! My woes aren't over too! Answering my comments from a cafe....nothing like the comfort of home sweet home! Pretty photo.

Hi Wendy
Sort of thing I would do. I never see any big signs put up at close range like at the supermarket - "Cash only".I will just get in the queue, regardless until someone says "There is a sign warning you!" Am in too much of a hurry to notice these things. Glad you were prevented from putting the wrong fuel in. Would have been a costly bill, otherwise.

Thanks for your comments on my post. Was very interested to hear your experience with the candles.

Today I lit the same candle that I wrote about as my kids & I ate our Sunday roast. I had no trouble lighting it. The flame didn't go down but it wasn't a very big flame! Again that felt like confirmation my husband was aware of me thinking of him & talking to me through the flame. Debs x

I remember when they used to have the diesel in seperate islands.

The first time I went through Oregon I had to stop at the gas station and get some gas. As I started pumping, someone came out and began to yell at me saying its against the law to pump your own gas in Oregon. I was taking away someone elses job.

Cute story! My wife (before we met) lived in Lachute and worked in Laval so with long distance commutes it was wise to have a diesel (engine lasts longer). She never ever goes to anything but a full service station. One day the attendant filled her tank with regular gasoline. Diesels do not work with regular gasoline. The gas station emptied the tank and filled it up with diesel and away she went. I imagine that the diesel nozzles are larger so that they can quickly fill up the larger volume tanks associated with diesel users (mostly trucks).
