New Life...

New babies stretching towards the light...

A little one on the way.....

She's here! Isn't she looovely.....

Peek-a-boo!

A surprise in the garage! This petunia was my favourite. I took so many pics of her last summer and right into the fall. I could not let her go when the outside temps got cold. So I put her in the garage just to see what would happen. Did not expect anything. Over the years, I'd tried to overwinter impatiens, geraniums, and other annuals by placing them indoors in a bright sunny south-facing window. They'd be fine for a little while, but eventually would all die.

So imagine my delight when I discovered these 3 blooms! It's quite cool in our garage and the light comes from a north window, so I don't really understand why this plant would bloom. But never mind - I'll take it!

Oh, they are lovely indeed, Wendy! And so cheery, too. Your petunia is definitely a survivor. I have some plants in the garage, too, but they usually don't make it through the winter--could it be that I forget to water them?:)

Hope things are going well with you and that you're not having to use that new snowblower too often.

Everything that blooms has to go through a lot of dirt, doesn't it! Wonderful!

I try to keep my plants from dying during the winter. Last year, I put a bunch of them in the garage.. They didn't do so well. This year, I brought some into the house and so far, they seem to be doing fine... One never knows, do we????? ha

Love seeing your 'spring' flowers growing now... Makes me yearn for spring!!!!!

Hugs
Betsy

Well clearly you have a very green thumb. And fine photography skills. What a perfect combination.

Wouldn't they all freeze in your garage? I know everything is frozen solid in ours and I think your weather is similar!
It's lovely to see blooms anyway and I'll be looking forward to seeing our garden growing this year.

Oooooh, what beautiful pictures! And I think your unexpected flowering is a gift of love from the flower. Plants can sense when we care for them, I think.

Hi Wendy....that petunia is a brave little soul....still blooming in cold conditions, amazing.

The orchid and crocus are beautiful.....cheers the soul on a cold winters day.....

What lovely flowers you keep around you. I love that your petunia plant is so hardy. We all should be so in love with life that we keep blooming in spite of expectations.

Hi Rose, some of my garage plants die too. But, yes, you gotta water them once in a while. I never did buy a snowblower. Found somebody to shovel our walk. Haven't had too much snow this year, but winter is far from over.

Hi Karin, you're right about that!

Hi Bev, thanks for the compliment.

Hi Betsy, that's the fun of gardening - you never know what to expect. Thanks for popping by. Spring is still a long way away for us.

Hi Hilary - thank you for your kind words. I love gardening and enjoy learning about plants. My photography skills have a long way to go - but at least I'm having fun.

Hi Amelia - our garage is heated. So nothing freezes. And it's moist from the snow falling off the car, so cool and moist - good for some plants, not for others.

Hi Beth, well that's nice. A gift of love - I like that! I do think plants sense our intentions sometimes.

Hi Cheryl, oh I don't think I'd survive the winters without flowers in my kitchen. A brave little soul indeed. And to think that's just a Walmart plant. Not even from a proper nursery or grower!

That's a nice outlook, Cloudhands. I like that. Hope things are well with you.

Your photos are specatular!
I felt so happy to see that you took the petunia in...and that it not only survived..it's blooming.
We plant lovers are sentimental, aren't we....sigh. Yes, we are.

We are all in need of a touch of springtime at this low point of the winter, so after seeing your lovely spring flowers, I think I'll have to go shopping for a pot of daffodils or crocus to cheer up my sitting room.
And congratulations of the petunia blooms, I didn't know they could bloom like that in the winter.

Hi Jackie, thanks for your kind words. I do have to agree with you on being sentimental.
Jackie - I can't get into your blog anymore. So if you read this, please email me with the instructions. Thanks.

Hi Sherry, thanks. I do understand!

Hi Shammickite - you won't be sorry (for going out and buying spring flowers). I didn't know petunias would bloom in the garage either!

Wendy, I love your header! Such a sweetheart. Your babies are gorgeous too. Spring and crocus-ahhh! And of course the orchid is beautiful. I refuse to buy them though as I don't want to watch them die. They don't do well for me. :( What a lovely surprise with the petunia. Enjoy.

Hi Beckie, I felt the same way as you. Never would have bought an orchid for myself, but my daughter gave it to me for my birthday last fall. And it's done well, surprisingly!

Thanks for your kind words, re Jasmine and my flower babies. Hope we get an early spring.
