Wild flowers

Unexpected treasures at the side of the road.
As I was taking the last pic, a neighbour stopped his car to see what I was doing.
"I have a gardening blog," I informed him. No need to go into any formal explanations.

"Hope you find something interesting among the weeds." Off he drove. Evidently not impressed with my roadside treasures.

His opinion is his business. I'm just so delighted to "see" new things through the eye of my camera. Flowers that I would normally just admire for a second or two and then walk away.

It's July and I'm enjoying the summer flowers and warm sunshine. How about you?

Wendy, what delightful wildflowers. Wish I knew what they all were. Oh well, will just enjoy their beauty. Too bad all people don't take the time to smell the wildflowers. :)

I love your wild flowers, Wendy.... I'm glad you are enjoying your camera. We all are learning to look at things in a different way now, aren't we?????

Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

Enjoying the flowers on your blog (not the dreaded bindweed though) Strange how weeds can look quite exotic when presented by someone else!
Had to chuckle about the neighbour wondering what you were doing in the hedgerow armed with a camera! It is always difficult to know what to say about excessive photo taking and blogging. You seem to have said just the right thing!

I am NOT enjoying the wet July that we seem to be having and the extra week at school before we break up (other schools seem to have broken up already) I would LOVE some nice weather. I want to fix the garden & jump on a few buses to the sea! (Not much fun in the rain), mind you I could start a blog on snails & slugs as we seem to have no shortage of those. LOL!

Hi Wendy....tku for sharing those little beauties....
Birdsfoot trefoil, red clover, coreopsis what a fantastic collection of wildflowers.....I am impressed with the informality of the photographs....just how they should be shown....

Yes I am enjoying the summer, especially now that we have sunshine and showers. I do love summer rain and it is so important for the gardens and wildlife.

Have a lovely weekend....glad you took time to stop and view the flowers......

Such beautiful finds. It is amazing what comes to us when we open our eyes and our hearts to nature.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Tessa is ready to pop. She can hardly wait.

I've never met a pretty flowered weed I didn't like. To me a weed is just a flower in the wrong place. I prefer the word Wildflower. I expect at one time or another all flowers were wild. Seems reasonable to me. I agree that wandering around with a camera in hand is a wonderful eye opener to the beauty everywhere.

Beautiful wildflower photos, Wendy! I, too, am enjoying these along the sides of roads and am so glad that they aren't being mowed down as in past years. Your experience with the neighbor is so funny; Beckie and I were admiring "weeds" in the ditch one day and had a driver stop to see if we were okay. She probably thought we were strange:)

These are beautiful! I love wildflowers! Morning glories especially! I have a friend who grows all different kinds of morning glories and photographs them - I think you'd LOVE her blog - http://lizvalentine.tumblr.com/

Hi Celia, this passerby is definitely not interested in flowers. But that's o.k. Each to his own.

Hi Beckie - oh, I like that : stop and smell the wildflowers! I don't know the names either. I just enjoy them.

Right on, Betsy. I'm amazed at how I look at things now. Different angles, light, detail - and I'm not a detail person. I'm so glad we have digital.

Hi Rambling Woods, nice idea. But I'm never organized to post things in time. I'll just enjoy yours.

Hi Jojo - thanks for stopping by.

Hi Maggie May, oh I just didn't want to get into my caregiving blog that has changed to changeswithseasons, aka gardening, etc. etc. I don't really call this a gardening blog as I post about other things too. But whatever. I do hope your rain lets up. Although snails and slugs would make for a fun blog! LOL!

Thank you Cheryl for identifying some of those flowers. I am amazed at what grows wild by the side of the road. Such beauty. Such colour. I'm glad you're enjoying the summer. Sun and rain - perfect combination!

Hi Grammy, oh you're so right. Just open our hearts and eyes and we find beauty. Can't wait for Tessa's baby!

Hi Cloudhands - I agree. All flowers were wild once. I like weeds - the ones with flowers.

Hi Rose, you make me laugh. I can just see you and Beckie, admiring and talking to the flowers in the ditch, while a passerby wonders if you two are both crackers. LOL!

Hi Allie - will check out her blog, thank you.

I love the abundance of wild flowers at this time of year.
Our weather has been cool and damp so we really need some sun to make the flowers grow and flourish.
I hope all is well with hubby and yourself!!

So mice to see the wild flowers of the wayside.... they are every bit as pretty as the "tame" ones in the garden.

Dear Wendy,
The wildflowers are so pretty. I love seeing them and being the bee! My camera helps me get right into the necter!
So many people are just ignorant...I think people like you who enjoy the roadside flowers help bring awareness....the bees and the butterflies are grateful for the wildflowers and for people like you!
I am enjoying the summer. It has cooled down a bit so I can be outside more.
Namaste,
Sherry
