Once you come to the old-fashioned water pump, you can leave the horses behind. Now pump that thing as hard as you can! If yer strong enough to get the water flowing, then yer ready to move on. If not, then you'd best give up and turn around now......
Aw, don't bother asking that jackass for directions........what does he know? Oh well, if yer gonna bribe him with fresh grass......
What did he tell ya? Turn right at the hydrangea tree? Yeah, that's right, but don't go into the little house, or you'll be asking for trouble.....
Go past the little boy, dancing on the hay wagon....., but if you stop to talk, you'll never get there in time......
Stroll right on past the autumn tree (it's the only one that's changing colours, you can't miss it).......
.....but if you take time to explore that building, you just might miss out......
Carefully, carefully......tiptoe past the goslings....
...ahhhhhh.......here we are! At the pigpen. Did I tell you to bring some corn with you? They just luuuv corn."
We spent the afternoon at Cumberland Farms in Ottawa, a few weeks ago. That old man was such a character, I couldn't resist taking his picture.
He really was pointing the way to the pigpen. We could have hopped on the farm wagon, but preferred to enjoy the sights at a more leisurely pace.
The horse and carriage was part of a wedding ceremony being held on that beautiful Saturday afternoon.

Awe Wendy... What fun you all must have had... I'd love to visit that farm --or one similar. NEAT for your grandson I'll bet... The piggies are cute!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
I love your field trip! I felt like I was right there.
Happy post, Wendy.
Thanks for pointing the way to the pigs. I'd never have found them without you. That sure is a great way to spend the day, and brings back memories of when my own two were little. Thanks for bringing us along.
That was a brilliant trip we had with you. The old man filled with character....... the little one having such fun and the animals so pleased to see him! Great day out!

What fun! It looks like you had a beautiful day for it. That tree is spectacular. Your pictures are great--the little one dancing on the Hay Wagon, especially. What a great place for a wedding--it would make the day seem so special and different from most weddings.
Hi Betsy, we did have a fun day. Little grandson had the run of the farm. Lots of space to play. A real adventure for him.
Hi Bev, I thought I saw you and little Ella dancing on the hay wagon. LOL!
Hi JeanMac - yes, it was fun. Nice to take a day away once in a while.
Hi Hilary, children grow up so fast. Sometimes I still can't believe my own children are all grown up and they have children. Being a grandma is fun, but every once in a while I have to shake myself and ask: am I really a Grandma?? Grandma's are old! LOL!
Hi Maggie May - there was something about that old guy. Really looked like someone out of a story. We did have fun that day.
Hi Jen, oh that tree was spectacular! That pic doesn't do it justice at all! Dear little Adrian wasn't dancing at all, of course, it just looks like it. It was a good day.
Wendy, when I saw the bearded man in the first photo, I thought you were searching for Santa Claus:) Looks like a great place to spend the day with the grandkids. I bet grandson squealed with delight when he saw the piglets:)
Hi Wendy, what a delightful post! Loved the sights (the old man included), the autumn colours, and the blooms! LOVE your new header too! What can be more wonderful than spending Thanksgiving with all your angels?!
Oh Wendy , that looks like so much fun. Wish I was with ya. Who is the little one walking? Jozlyn is starting to stand and walk with holding her hand. The thrill of the little ones growing is so amazing. Every one is like the fist time. A joy.
Hi Wendy....what a lovely day out. Children and animals...perfect.
I love pigs.....I use to help my grandfather with his.....
I take Poppi each week to our local farm. They have a wonderful farm shop. Poppi likes to go see all the animals on the farm. It is a lovely shopping trip......
Looks as if you had a very fun day.
I love the photograph on your header...your family is gorgeous!

Wendy, I'll admit I was a little taken aback when I saw the first photo. :) But what a fun place to spend the day with the kids. I love seeing baby animals almost as much as my grand girls. I love that hydrangea bush(tree)!
That's so much fun! I love outings like that, and absolutely LOVE farm animals. Man... Not sure what it is about them, but pigs, goats, turkeys, cows --- I just want to hug them all!
Thanks for the smiles this morning!
That looks like 1 of the best days ever!
