Winter sports on the Lake

Is this man walking his dog on the ice?

No, he's actually playing  hockey with his dog. Guess nobody else was available.

Hey Fido! Game's not over yet!

Dashing through the snow....um......ice

Is this a kite stuck in a tree?

Nope - I think this is called kite surfing on ice. Or wind-surfing on ice.

Oops, where did the surfer go?
Notice the sky changing colours as day time turns into evening?

Is that a crescent moon? LOL!

No matter what kind of weather we have: ice, snow, or cold, people always seem to find ways of having fun. That guy was kite surfing until after dark.

Sorry for the bad quality of this pic. I couldn't believe he was still out there after dark and ran to get my camera (which I'd put away). It looks like he's upset that the kite has fallen. Time to call it a day.

Hi Wendy, Neat pictures... People do seem to have fun --no matter what the weather is.... That kite surfing looks like fun (if I were 40 yrs. younger). ha ha

I guess that playing hockey with your dog is a good thing if there are no more people around!!!!! Cute!!!

Have a good weekend, my friend.
Hugs,
Betsy

Great photos. How lucky you are living right on the lake. How cold is it there? Is the ice that safe? Glad to see you are settling in. I'm still without a sofa, but I have my window, my rocking chair, and a little snow in the forecast tomorrow. This is what I wished for.

I still can't get over a lake being frozen. (That comes from living here in the deep South where we don't see anything frozen unless it's ice in our freezer.)
I love these photos, and it looks like a good time was had!
Fun!!!!

You have a good position to see the funny actions on ice. What is the next funny performance, I wonder?
But the lake is very large and fine view.
Have a nice weekend!

Oh that kite surfing looks like fun! It reminds me of a time way back when I was in my 20s, in Montreal, West Island.. skating. It had been a bitter cold winter but we hadn't had much snow. The lake was completely smooth and it was a very windy day. We'd pick up a bit of speed on our skates and then with the wind behind us, we'd open our jackets to let the wind take us down the lake. It was incredibly fun .. except for the skate back against the wind.

I love your images of action on the ice.

Wonderful photos Wendy! We are such wimps here, it stayed below 30 for two weeks, and mostly we just whined, ha, ha. I love how people get out and make fun of their weather. Good to hear from you.

These winter sports all look like so much fun, but I'd much rather watch from the comfort of my living room, too, than to actually be out on that ice:) Love the photos of the kite, especially against the twilight sky.

Hi Wendy...wow! I'm so amazed to see people actually going out and having fun in that kind of weather! Love the way you've captured the moods and the colours. Nice shot of the 'crescent moon'! Hope your week is going well!

You have a front seat to winter sports too. I really have had no experience with winter on water other than eagle viewing. Which we have not done yet this year. Thanks for opening our eyes to new adventures on the lake.

You can't fight winter, it's going to happen every year, so you might as well get out there and make the best of it.
But I'm staying put indoors today.... got a bit of a sniffle and a sore throat and I think I need a day of relaxation.
