Summer morphs into fall

Summer rains bring a welcome relief from the heat.  Think this little butterfly got more than just a drink!

Oh those hibs are sweet!  Gotta drink up before the cold weather comes.

Sleepy bee - I could almost pet him.  Fall must be approaching

Fall flowers come into their own

Kids back at school: we're all in our places with bright shiny faces!

Now what does this have to do with anything?

It was Sunday morning and I'd just finished a tai chi class held in this park by the water.  I often sit on a bench afterwards, sip my water and rest.  As I was sitting there admiring the view...

An elderly man and young Chinese lady walked by my bench, down some stone steps and on to another bench closer to the water (the one you see in the pic).
I wondered what their relationship was.
Relatives? Unlikely.
Elderly gent and his caretaker? Probably. But there seemed to be such a difference in age.  Maybe she was a great-granddaughter and one of her parents was Oriental.

I watched their body language for a bit and saw that they were quite comfortable with each other.  As unobtrusively as possible, I snapped this photo. Unfortunately her head whipped around at the sound of my camera, and I immediately shifted position to snap the one you see above of the boats. That's why it's not very good, but I was trying to pretend I had no interest in her or her companion and was randomly taking pics on a beautiful sunny morning.

After a while, they rose to go. I wondered if she would glare at me as they passed my bench.  Or come right out and ask if I'd taken their pic.  I deliberated and then figured that if it was a big deal, I'd just delete the pics.

Really - sometimes my imagination gets the best of me.

They both smiled as they approached my bench and we had a good chat.
Elderly gent and sweet young caretaker.  Out walking and taking in the unusually warm autumn day.  I hope we have more of these lovely days before the cold sets in.

Good to read you. Looks like a beautiful fall on your home grounds. My imagination works overtime sometimes too. We haven't got any good color going here yet. Lots of leaves down but mostly from no rain for weeks. Must be time to drive up into the hills. Hope you are well.

Lovely photo of the couple--I like to people-watch, too, and often wonder about relationships. And I'm glad to see your froggies are still enjoying some time in the sun:) Autumn is coming slowly here--we've had an Indian summer with warm, but pleasant temps the past week--but there are signs all around us. The hummingbirds have finally left, I'm afraid, and the Monarchs are also on their way south, but I'm enjoying the rest of the butterflies and bees busy in the garden. Lovely photos!

It is a good photo even if taken surreptitiously. Sometimes you have to ask, but this was the back of their heads, so not sure if that was necessary.

Nice to know you had such a lovely including practice of tai chi. It must have been a little awkward moment when the sound of shutter release was realized but how sweet of the two of them, I’d like to be like them if I were in their situation. You described nicely the transition from summer to autumn with photos and words.

You and those two people all are warm and gentle. I think I can imagine you were chatting pleasantly in the warm autumn and beautiful scenery. How wonderful you do taichi beside the beautiful lake!
Have a nice day!

Geesh, Wendy.. you have the same worries and dialogues in your head that I do. I always feel so shy about snapping a photo of someone else. And I always think that I've been noticed. I'm glad they were unconcerned. Lovely pics.. that first one especially. And the frogs are so cute!

Love all of your photos, Wendy. YES---the critters are all busy getting ready for winter. They are stocking their homes knowing that cold weather will be here soon.

Fall is here --but our weather is still quite warm --and we are very dry here. A front is supposed to come through tomorrow which should give us some rain and then some cooler temps. (I HOPE!)

I love to 'people watch' also--and wonder about them/their lives, etc. That gentleman certainly has a very nice caretaker.. NEAT!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

Fall is here and now our world is dressed in amazing colors. So blissful. Be well...happy autumn!
