We've had an unseasonably warm winter this year. But considering the severity and harshness of the past two, we were due for a mild, balmy winter.
I missed walking out on my back deck these last few years, but now I'm back - and even though it's winter, the first thing I do early mornings, is step out, coffee cup in hand, breathe in the fresh air and have a look around.
Anything new happen overnight in my backyard? The neighbours? Not usually. Unless it's early spring or summer - and then there's always something new in the garden!

I've been playing catch-up with everyone and I'm so happy to see you are back 'home.' It must feel so very good to be in the place that holds so many wonderful albeit bittersweet memories. To tell you the truth I think that mark looks like the blessed Mother holding a bouquet of flowers. Blessings to you in the New Year. ;j
My guess is it is a spirit sending a message of love.
Thanks for remembering me and reconnecting. I needed to hear from you.
May this be a good year for us all in bloggershere.
In June I shall become a granny. I feel blessed that I may get to that station in life.
Obviously it's the Spirit of the Bear blessing your lovely home....for the second time. All the best to you and yours...may this year bring you all that you dream of, if it's good for you.xxx
Hi, Wendy, you already know my thoughts on this one. You are right about time to have a mild one. I love your positive attitude. And calming posts. Hugs to you. :)
Hi Wendy I love your blog space and the pictures are glorious. I am a Winter gal :-) So nice to meet you and be 'in touch' It feels good, really good.
Love Gail
peace......
and the water mark looks like a woman holding the wreath
Looks like a woman wearing a flowing gown holding a wreath - likeness of you.
Hi, Wendy,
I'm being a bit lazy this afternoon and decided to catch up on reading blogs. It is good to reconnect. I'm feeling quite at home here in Virginia. It is so good to be close to my children and, especially, Ella.
I'm so sorry I didn't connect with you when you were in Florida. I was in the middle of getting ready to move, and things were so hectic.
Happy new year to you.
It looks like a figure holding the wreath but with pointy ears!
The weather looks chilly to me but you say that it's mild!
It will be good to see some greenery, won't it?

My first visit to your blog ... and I do wonder what the water shape is ... it does look as if someone is holding the wreath!
All the best Jan
It does look like some kind of spirit holding the wreath. We've finally had some measurable snow, and I enjoy looking at the tracks in the new-fallen snow in the morning, wondering what creatures have been visiting during the night.
It's either a bride and her bouquet or a bear bringing you flowers and welcoming you home. Do tell!
Nudge! ;)
Hi Hilary - it's whatever you think! I wanted to see how everyone else would interpret. I thought it was a bride-fox carrying a bouquet of flowers. That's what struck me the minute I saw it - and wondered how that could be. I walked over to the shed, but there was really nothing else - no ice trapped or anything sticking to the shed to create that pattern.
A few days later the water mark evaporated. I guess it must have been snow from the roof melting and somehow catching on the wreath on the door. But really it looked like the silhouette of a bridal gown the way it floated around her feet (which must have been cold in the snow. LOL).
Anyway, it was fun to read what everyone else saw. :-)
Oops, in re-reading this post, I was supposed to say what I thought it was. And totally forgot - thanks for the "nudge" Hilary!!!
