June

Mid-July already and this post was supposed to be for June.

I was walking over my front lawn a few weeks ago and noticed wild strawberries growing in the grass.

Brought back memories of childhood, of pinching sweet berries between our young fingers and stuffing them into our mouths. Returning home later in the day, hands and faces stained red.

I wondered if the birds or chipmunks would feast on these. It's a busy, happy time of year, as we are blessed with an abundance of seeds, acorns, berries everywhere we look.

I love summer!

Enjoy the season. Enjoy the warmth and sunshine, the gentle rains and long days. Enjoy the many gifts nature brings to your doorstep.

Good to see you posting Wendy. I remember eating those kinds of berries as a kid too. Funny how those days all seem endless and sunny in my memory.

Hi Ladies - yes, summer is a happy time. Warm air, windows open, long days, and of course vibrant blooms in the garden. Well, we're actually having a dry spell, so not that vibrant, but at least I can step outdoors and be surrounded by aliveness - plants and grass and weeds. Love those weeds. Really.

Oh and we have an abundance of chipmunks this year. They can be naughty - digging into all my flower pots, but whatever.....

Hope you have a glorious summer and thanks for commenting!

Indeed Wendy it is a lovely season, although the heat has really got to me this year. Way above our normal temperatures, there have been time when I thought I might melt:)

Love wild strawberries. As you say memories of childhood.

Nature gives so many wonderful things.
It has been very hot here in the UK and we really could do with some rain.

Yum! I love strawberries!

All the best Jan

I love summer, too, although it has been so hot here since May that I don't spend as much time outdoors as I would like. I remember the "lazy, hazy days of summer" as a kid; now I spend those days enjoying blooms in the garden and watching all the butterflies. I feel like I have come full circle, enjoying nature now as much as I did as a child.

One of the oldest jokes, if you can call it that: "What did one strawberry say to the other? If you weren't so fresh you wouldn't be in this jam."

It appealed to me as a kid ... and still does, I guess.
